Uncle Pepe
It’s amazing to think I started out singing doo-wop in the Carol Street station in Brooklyn NY at the age of 15. Helped create the group the Montclairs with neighborhood friends and actually did not sing professionally again until I was 26 years old when I became the lead sing for the disco show band Manhattan Heights in the 1970s. We traveled the country working clubs and hotels and when we got back to NY became a wedding band.
In 1981 I started writing songs seriously and moved to Tennessee in 1982. My wife and I lived outside Nashville for almost 30 years. I always worked a day job but I was well invested in the music industry by doing many different things. I was a journalist for Music Row magazine and at the same time ran songwriters nights at a couple of the more prestigious clubs. I wrote songs with some great songwriters and performed a few times over the years at the Bluebird cafe. I also managed a couple of artists and was helpful in launching the careers of others.
Before leaving TN in 2012 I finally went to college where I became a recording engineer and at the same time became a radio personality on WVCP the college station.
In 2014 I sent a video in to “The Voice” and six weeks later they flew me out to CA to audition for the executive producers. I did not get any air time but it was a great experience.
Now I sing here in the Villages and I also record others on a variety of different multi-track recording systems.
