Bobby V(ignapiano)

I started singing on the street corners of Brooklyn in the mid 1960’s and after a few personnel and name changes our group called The Demolyrs were singing and playing together for over the next 20 years. I learned about singing and arranging while working for Ernie Maresca of Laurie Records as a session singer and guitar player. Ernie is best known for writing most of Dion DiMucci’s biggest hits such as The Wanderer, Runaround Sue and Lovers Who Wander just to name a few and of course his own big hit, Shout Shout Knock Yourself Out.

While working with Ernie my group recorded a song for United World Records which I wrote called Rain and we were honored to have Ernie write the B side Hey Little Rosie. We went on to record 3 more songs for United World Records but then Uncle Sam called and off we went to do our duty. We regrouped after our return and toured the tri-state area just as the “Oldie Revival” was kicking in and worked with such famous groups as The Platters, The Angels, The Regents, and the Shirelles before calling it quits in 1986.

I retired and moved here to The Villages and am enjoying my new career as a solo performer and continuing to do what I love the best…. singing and entertaining.

Upcoming Shows

Hi all, summertime in central Florida is upon us, so I hope you all are staying cool and staying hydrated! This month’s update is to remind you that our Blast from the Past get-togethers for July and August are on summer hiatus, which is just a fancy word for vacation but…… we are never really on vacation. We may not be singing but we are always working on new ways to keep our show a little new and a little different. “How is that Bobby?” 

Well, get ready for….. THE BIG BLAST!!!!  Yes, THE BIG BLAST!! We have scheduled our Blast from the Past return to be held in the LARGE theater room in the Lake Miona recreation center on Friday, September 4th. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. with the show starting at 6:30 P.M. Even though this is a large theater room, we are still having it set up as an “open door” event with stadium seating, but there will be room for those of you who may want to get up for a dance or two AND we will also be having a 50/50, so bring along some money for a chance to win.  Please take a moment to mark your calendars now, you will not want to miss this! 

Speaking of marking your calendars, I will be the guest singer at our Saturday morning Doowop On The Porch get together on July 18th, also in the Lake Miona recreation center.  I hope you will take the time to stop by and enjoy an early morning “FREE’ concert. The program starts at 9:30 A.M., and the guest singing starts at 10:30 A.M.
