Doug Skinner Bio
Doug began his musical journey as a teenager, playing bass and singing in a local “garage band” in Milford, Connecticut. After enlisting in the Marine Corps he continued honing his musical skills by playing in bands wherever he was stationed. While stationed in Memphis, Doug worked part time as a studio musician, playing bass in multiple demo recordings at Sun Studio for local songwriters. After leaving the service and taking 30 years off for career and family, Doug retired to the Villages in 2003 and renewed his musical career. Doug was an original member of Flashback, a well known local band in The Villages. He has sung in various musical productions including “American Bandstand Revisited” and multiple “Starry Nights” shows at both the Savannah Center and The Sharon. As a member of Bobalou’s Oldies but Goodies, Doug has sung on multiple occasions with Rocky and the Rollers at Katie Belles. In collaboration with Michael Hertz, a fellow Vietnam veteran, Doug recently recorded and released an album entitled “Midnight in July” which is comprised of original songs about a soldiers experiences in Vietnam.
