Bobby V(ignapiano)

I started singing on the street corners of Brooklyn in the mid 1960’s and after a few personnel and name changes our group called The Demolyrs were singing and playing together for over the next 20 years. I learned about singing and arranging while working for Ernie Maresca of Laurie Records as a session singer and guitar player. Ernie is best known for writing most of Dion DiMucci’s biggest hits such as The Wanderer, Runaround Sue and Lovers Who Wander just to name a few and of course his own big hit, Shout Shout Knock Yourself Out.

While working with Ernie my group recorded a song for United World Records which I wrote called Rain and we were honored to have Ernie write the B side Hey Little Rosie. We went on to record 3 more songs for United World Records but then Uncle Sam called and off we went to do our duty. We regrouped after our return and toured the tri-state area just as the “Oldie Revival” was kicking in and worked with such famous groups as The Platters, The Angels, The Regents, and the Shirelles before calling it quits in 1986.

I retired and moved here to The Villages and am enjoying my new career as a solo performer and continuing to do what I love the best…. singing and entertaining.

Upcoming Shows

Hi all, sorry this month’s letter is a few days late, the past few weeks have been very busy for me but as they say “better late than never” 

I want to remind you all that this Thursday, June 4th, we will be performing the last Blast From the Past before our summer break. Yes, Tim, Donna, and yours truly are taking a little time off. All three of us have had a pretty hectic performance schedule so far this year, a few together but mostly on our own, so just like being back in school, we are looking forward to a summer vacation. That being said, why not make sure you stop by for some great entertainment, a few laughs, some musical memories, but mostly some wonderful singing, all for the price of showing your Villages I.D!!  Just in case you forgot, it is in the Moyer recreation center, this Thursday, doors open @1:00 and the FREE show starts at 1:30.

Hi all, I am sending this email to ask if you are interested in attending my show on June 17th in the Bacall recreation starting at 6:00. Tickets are $10 p/p.This show is titled Bobby “V” Return to the Teen Idols. It will be a tribute to those great teen idols from the late 50′ s and early 60’s like: Jimmy Clanton, Frankie Avalon, Johnny Burnette, Bobby Darin, Paul Anka, and many others. This is a small recreation center, and as such, I am limited to how many people they will allow in the room.

I will be announcing and selling tickets this Saturday at the DooWop On The Porch get together. If you would like to attend the show, please reply to this email a.s.a.p, and also if you DO NOT wish to attend this show, please let me know that also. This is a popular show and usually sells out very quickly, and I expect a lot of tickets to be spoken for come this Saturday. I thank you for always supporting me and hope you are all doing well.
