Bobby V(ignapiano)
I started singing on the street corners of Brooklyn in the mid 1960’s and after a few personnel and name changes our group called The Demolyrs were singing and playing together for over the next 20 years. I learned about singing and arranging while working for Ernie Maresca of Laurie Records as a session singer and guitar player. Ernie is best known for writing most of Dion DiMucci’s biggest hits such as The Wanderer, Runaround Sue and Lovers Who Wander just to name a few and of course his own big hit, Shout Shout Knock Yourself Out.
While working with Ernie my group recorded a song for United World Records which I wrote called Rain and we were honored to have Ernie write the B side Hey Little Rosie. We went on to record 3 more songs for United World Records but then Uncle Sam called and off we went to do our duty. We regrouped after our return and toured the tri-state area just as the “Oldie Revival” was kicking in and worked with such famous groups as The Platters, The Angels, The Regents, and the Shirelles before calling it quits in 1986.
I retired and moved here to The Villages and am enjoying my new career as a solo performer and continuing to do what I love the best…. singing and entertaining.
Bobby was recently featured in the “Style” magazine!
Upcoming Shows
Hello all, I hope all is well, other than the unusually cold weather. I have some performance updates for you and a few to mark on your calendar:
1) As usual, we will have our Blast from the Past show this Thursday in the Moyer recreation center, doors open at 1:00, show starts @ 1:30. Tim, Donna, and I are anxious to see you there. We have a great show planned with a few early Valentine songs added in, so why not stop by, cozy up, and enjoy the “FREE” did I say “FREE?” YES I DID!! show.
2) Mark your calendar for Feb 26th AND Mar. 12th, why two dates, you say? Well, on March 12th, I will be performing in the Savannah Center at the Lunchtime Concert series starting at 12:00 for a one-hour show! Tickets go on sale at any regional center starting on Feb. 26th, $8.00 p.p., which gets you not only my show but a second show starting at 1:00 but at this time I do not know who that will be. This is a table seating event, bring your lunch and snacks. I believe there are 8 seats per table; however, there are no reservations. Last year the show was sold out so get your tickets early and arrive EARLY to grab a good table.
3) I am attaching a link for the Classics, Crooners and Country Show starring Bobby “V”, Tim and Donna Francis (Mr. & Mrs) and The Village Chicks show in the Rohan recreation center on Mar. 31st. Purchase your tickets now, select your row and seat to reserve your tickets while there is still a good selection to choose from. You DO NOT have to purchase tickets for the actual cruise to attend this show, however if you are interested in sailing with us I have attached a link to the Ticket Tailor website to purchase your tickets or if you attend the show we will have a spokeswoman there from Ocala travel with all the information about the Feb. 2026 cruise.
